SBI branch services likely to be affected by three-day nationwide bank strike from Sept 28
New Delhi, Sept 20 (TNT): Branch services of State Bank of India (SBI) are likely to be affected by a nationwide three-day strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) from September 28 to 30, 2026.
SBI has advised customers to complete important branch-related banking transactions in advance of the proposed strike.
The advisory follows the nationwide strike observed by the UFBU on September 11 and comes ahead of another phase of protest action later this month.
The union forum has also announced a continuous strike from October 26 as part of its ongoing agitation.
SBI said customers should plan transactions requiring physical visits to branches, staff assistance, document verification and other in-person services before the proposed strike period to avoid possible disruptions.
The bank said it was taking steps to ensure the availability of essential banking services during the strike. However, branch operations could be affected depending on the extent of employee participation at different locations.
Customers have been advised to use alternative banking channels during the strike period.
ATMs and Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines (ADWMs) can be used for cash requirements, while Customer Service Points (CSPs) would remain available for select banking services.
SBI said its digital platforms, including internet banking, mobile banking, YONO and Unified Payments Interface (UPI), would enable customers to carry out routine transactions such as fund transfers and payments.
However, services involving physical documentation, certain cheque-related processes and other branch-dependent transactions could face delays if branch operations are affected, the bank cautioned.
As September 26 and 27 fall on a weekend, the proposed strike from September 28 to 30 could effectively result in a five-day period without normal weekday branch operations, the advisory added.
