Transport department holds cycle rally to create road safety awareness

Kakinada, Sept 20 (TNT): The Transport Department organised a cycle rally here on Sunday to create awareness among the public on road safety and the need to prevent accidents.

The rally began at the Deputy Transport Commissioner’s office in Sashikanth Nagar and proceeded towards Pithapuram before returning to the starting point.

DTC in-charge R Suresh, RTO in-charge B V Muralikrishna and Motor Vehicle Inspectors led the rally.

Speaking on the occasion, R Suresh and Muralikrishna expressed concern over the increasing number of road accidents and urged motorists to strictly follow traffic rules to ensure their own safety as well as that of other road users.

They particularly cautioned motorists against using mobile phones while driving, saying the practice was contributing to road accidents and loss of lives.
