Maruti Suzuki launches automatic S-CNG variants of Swift, Dzire and Baleno
New Delhi, Sept 20 (TNT): Maruti Suzuki India Limited on Sunday announced the launch of automatic S-CNG variants of its popular Swift, Dzire and Baleno models under its ‘Auto Green Mission’, combining automatic driving convenience with fuel efficiency.
The company said the Dzire S-CNG AMT delivers a fuel efficiency of 36.47 km/kg, making it the country’s most fuel-efficient sedan in the segment, according to the company.
The new S-CNG variants are powered by the Advanced Z12E 1.2-litre engine equipped with Dual Variable Valve Timing (Dual VVT) and Idle Start Stop (ISS) technology.
The engine is paired with Maruti Suzuki’s five-speed Auto Gear Shift transmission, an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
The AMT system enables automatic gear shifts for easier driving in traffic, while also providing the option of manual gear changes without the use of a clutch pedal, the company said.
Speaking on the occasion, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said the new automatic S-CNG models were aimed at customers seeking the convenience of automatic transmission without compromising on fuel efficiency and performance in city traffic.
He said demand for the company’s S-CNG vehicles had increased, with sales during the first quarter registering a 58 per cent rise over the corresponding period last year.
The company recorded its highest-ever monthly S-CNG sales of 83,000 units in July, he added.
According to the company, the Z12E engine has a displacement of 1,197 cc and develops a maximum power of 82.93 PS in petrol mode and 69.75 PS in CNG mode. Maximum torque stands at 112.4 Nm in petrol mode and 101.8 Nm in CNG mode.
All three models feature a five-speed AMT transmission. The fuel efficiency is rated at 35.34 km/kg for the Swift S-CNG AMT, 36.47 km/kg for the Dzire S-CNG AMT and 34.47 km/kg for the Baleno S-CNG AMT.
The vehicles have a 37-litre petrol tank and a CNG tank with a water filling capacity of 55 litres, the company said.
