Telangana CM asks officials to redesign school uniforms, ensure timely supply

Hyderabad, Sept 19 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday evening directed officials to explore diverse designs and attractive colours for uniforms supplied to students, while ensuring that uniforms and other essential supplies reach them from the first day of the next academic year.

Reddy reviewed the distribution of uniforms and other supplies to students at a meeting here.

Officials informed him that one set of uniforms had been distributed to students in government schools, hostels and residential schools, while the second set would be supplied by the end of September.

Two sets of uniforms had already been provided to students in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) and Model Schools, they said.

The officials also briefed the Chief Minister on the distribution of notebooks, which had been completed, besides plates, glasses, bowls, spoons, cups, carpets, bedsheets and towels to students in government hostels, residential schools, KGBVs and Model Schools.

The Chief Minister asked officials to prepare an action plan well in advance so that uniforms and other supplies are available to students on the first day of the next academic year.

Noting the possibility of a 10 per cent increase in student enrolment, he directed officials to make arrangements to meet the additional requirement.

Reddy noted that parents had expressed satisfaction with the quality of uniforms and other materials supplied to students this year.

State Government Advisor P Sudarshan Reddy, MP Vem Narendar Reddy, CM’s Principal Secretary Sridhar, CM’s OSD Vemula Srinivasulu and senior officials attended the meeting.
