
Kochi, Feb 22 (TNT): The 70th edition of the Filmfare Awards South was held in Kochi on Friday in association with Kerala Tourism, celebrating excellence in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada cinema for 2024
In Telugu cinema, Pushpa 2: The Rule dominated the night with five awards, including Best Film and Best Actor (Male) for Allu Arjun.
Other notable Telugu winners included Devara: Part 1, Kalki 2898 AD, Committee Kurrollu and Guntur Kaaram, which secured two awards each.
Amitabh Bachchan won Best Supporting Actor (Male) for Kalki 2898 AD, while Kajal Aggarwal bagged the Best Actress (Critics’) award for Satyabhama
In Malayalam cinema, Mammootty won Best Actor (Male) for Bramayugam, marking another milestone in his career.
Aadujeevitham emerged as a major winner with five awards, while Kishkindha Kaandam secured four.
Veteran filmmaker Sreenivasan and lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi were honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards
Tamil cinema saw Amaran sweep eight awards, including Best Film.
Sivakarthikeyan won Best Actor (Male), while Sai Pallavi bagged Best Actor (Female) for her performance in the film. Vikram received the Outstanding Performance Award for Thangalaan
In Kannada cinema, Shakhahaari won Best Film, while Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi led the music categories with three awards.
Blink secured two awards, including Best Film (Critics’)
The awards ceremony, held at Adlux International Convention Centre, Kochi, featured performances by several leading artistes and witnessed the presence of prominent personalities from across the South Indian film industries
