CBI arrests four, including two RDSO senior officers, in bribery case

New Delhi, Sept 15 (TNT): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested four persons, including two senior officers of the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), Lucknow, and two representatives of a private company in an alleged bribery case.

The arrested public servants are a Deputy Director and a Senior Section Engineer of RDSO, while the other two accused are representatives of a Kolkata-based private company, according to the CBI.

The agency registered a case against the accused over allegations that the two public servants, in conspiracy with the private persons, had obtained undue advantage from the company in return for issuing a favourable plant and machinery inspection report for its factory.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused at a hotel in Howrah while allegedly accepting Rs 4 lakh as illegal gratification from representatives of the private company.

Apart from the alleged bribe amount, another Rs 4.73 lakh in cash was recovered and seized, the agency said.

Searches are being conducted at the residential and office premises of the accused at multiple locations in Kolkata, Lucknow and Bihar. Incriminating documents and digital evidence have also been recovered and seized.

The accused will be produced before the competent court.

Investigation in the case is continuing.
