No Compromise on Implementation of EHS: Telangana Dy CM Bhatti Vikramarka
Hyderabad, Sept 6 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday said the government is committed to ensuring health security for government employees, their families and dependents, and made it clear that there would be no compromise in the implementation of the Employees Health Scheme (EHS).
The Deputy Chief Minister held a high-level review meeting with members of the EHS Trust Board and senior officials at Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan here.
Bhatti said the health card scheme was introduced with the objective of addressing a long-pending demand of government employees and providing them financial and mental security during medical emergencies.
He said government employees were an integral part of the administration and their welfare was a priority for the people’s government.
Despite financial constraints, the government had taken up the scheme with commitment to ensure that employees and their families did not face financial hardship during illness.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government had consulted employee associations while framing the scheme and incorporating their suggestions and views.
He said 354 private hospitals had already been empanelled under the EHS, while several others had been brought under the deemed-empanelled system.
He directed officials to hold discussions with hospital managements and take necessary measures to ensure the scheme was implemented effectively.
Bhatti also instructed officials to speed up the issuance of health cards and cautioned them against taking employee welfare matters lightly.
He said the problems faced by government employees had remained unresolved for several years and recalled that the health card scheme was introduced after the present government came to power with employee welfare as a priority.
He called upon officials and employee associations to work together to ensure the effective implementation of the EHS and reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding the health and welfare of employees and their families.
Government Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, JAD Special Chief Secretary Mahesh Dutt Ekka, Health and Medical Principal Secretary Christina, Home Department Secretary Mogitha Rana, EHS CEO Hanumanthu, leaders of employee associations and other officials attended the meeting.
