Telangana CM Orders Magisterial Enquiry Into Nurse Rape-Murder Case
Hyderabad, Sept 6 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday ordered a comprehensive magisterial enquiry into the recent rape and murder of a nurse at a private hospital in Thukkuguda on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister directed officials to examine all aspects of the incident, including the circumstances leading to the crime, security arrangements at the victim’s accommodation, any negligence by the hospital management and compliance with mandatory safety protocols for female employees, an official release said here.
Police have already arrested the accused.
Reddy instructed officials to conduct the investigation meticulously and ensure that there was no delay in completing the probe.
Senior police officials have been directed to continuously monitor the progress of the case, expedite the forensic examination and collection of technical evidence, and file a comprehensive chargesheet.
The Chief Minister also directed the Law Department, Police Department and prosecution wing to work in coordination to ensure that the case proceeds without delay.
The government will take necessary steps to facilitate an expeditious trial through a fast-track court, officials said.
Reddy assured the victim’s family of all possible support. Ministers Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Seethakka have already visited the family, while the state government has provided financial assistance and sanctioned an Indiramma house to the victim’s family.
The Chief Minister directed officials to identify and rectify any systemic lapses that may have contributed to the incident and stressed the need for effective investigation and prosecution to ensure that the perpetrator is punished in accordance with law.
