Red Cross district branch elections to be held on October 4 in Telangana
Hyderabad, Sept 1 (TNT): The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Telangana State Branch, will conduct elections to the Management Committees of 30 district branches simultaneously on October 4, 2026.
The decision was approved by Telangana Governor and President of the IRCS Telangana State Branch Shiv Pratap Shukla.
The terms of the Management Committees of all 30 district branches have expired and the committees are currently vacant.
Additional Collectors have been appointed as Special Officers to oversee the day-to-day functioning of the branches under the supervision of the District Collectors, who are the presidents of the respective district branches.
The Telangana State Branch has enrolled more than 66,000 new members during a special membership drive held from May to August 2026.
With the new enrolments, its total membership has crossed 1.13 lakh.
IRCS Telangana State Branch Chairman M Dana Kishore held a meeting with former district branch office-bearers at the Secretariat on Tuesday to discuss the election schedule, guidelines and arrangements for smooth conduct of the polls.
Dana Kishore considered suggestions made by the former office-bearers and agreed to incorporate appropriate suggestions in the election process.
The election guidelines and schedule, along with voters’ lists, will be sent to the respective District Collectors within the next two days, officials said.
Prof A Sriramulu, General Secretary and CEO, IRCS Telangana State Branch, attended the meeting.
