Odisha Lok Bhavan becomes first Governor House in country to get IGBC Platinum certification
Bhubaneswar, Sept 1 (TNT) : The Odisha Lok Bhavan, Governor House campus has become the first Governor House in the country to receive IGBC Platinum Certification under the IGBC Green Campus Ratings.
The certification plaque was handed over to Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati by IGBC National Chairman C Shekar Reddy at a joint press conference at Lok Bhavan here on Tuesday.
The event was attended by the Odisha Minister for Works, Law and Excise and Principal Secretaries of the Energy and Environment departments.
The Lok Bhavan campus scored 88 out of 100, making it one of the highest-rated green campuses in the country and the first Lok Bhavan to receive the green and Platinum certification.
The campus has more than 80 per cent green cover, with 2,374 trees belonging to 72 species documented.
The green initiatives at the campus have resulted in a 35 per cent reduction in water consumption, supported by comprehensive rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge systems.
The campus has an installed solar power capacity of 635 kWp and an Energy Performance Index of 50.57 kWh per square metre per year.
The campus also has systems for 100 per cent treatment and reuse of organic waste and diversion of all dry waste from landfills.
Electric vehicle-based internal mobility and EV charging infrastructure have also been provided as part of the green campus initiatives.
