Union Coal Minister Kishan Reddy directs coal companies to ensure uninterrupted supply to thermal power plants
Hyderabad, Sept 1 (TNT): Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday directed government coal-producing companies to ensure adequate and uninterrupted coal supply to thermal power stations having Fuel Supply Agreements (FSAs), in view of the increase in power consumption across the country.
Chairing a review meeting through video conference with government coal-producing companies, Reddy said 28 thermal power stations in the country currently have low coal stocks and directed the concerned coal companies to immediately step up coal transportation to prevent any shortage.
He specifically directed Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to continue supplying adequate coal to thermal power stations having FSAs with the company.
Singareni Chairman and Managing Director Dr Buddaprakash Jyoti said the company was supplying adequate coal to power stations under its FSAs and would continue efforts to ensure sufficient supplies in view of the growing power requirement.
Senior officials of Coal India Limited, Singareni and other government organisations participated in the meeting.
From Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad, Director (Personnel and Finance) Gawtham Potru, Executive Director (Coal Movement) B Venkanna and General Manager (Coordination and Marketing) Tadaboyina Srinivas participated along with the CMD.
Director (Operations) L V Surya Narayana, Director (Projects and Planning) K Venkateshwarlu and Director (E&M) M Tirumala Rao participated from Singareni’s head office at Kothagudem.
