Hyderabad, sept 1(TNT): Travel industry veteran Vijay Mohan Raj has been unanimously elected Chairman of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), AP and Telangana Chapter.
His election comes as TAAI marks its 75th year.
Raj returns to the leadership of the association after a gap of 20 years, the Association said in a release here on Tuesday.
Raj, who has over four decades of experience in the travel and tourism sector, has held leadership positions at national and international levels.
He was also elected an International Director of SKÅL International, becoming only the third Indian to hold the position, according to the association.
He earlier served as President of SKÅL Hyderabad from 2014 to 2018 and was Chairman of the SKÅL World Congress held in Hyderabad.
Welcoming his election, Raj said he was honoured by the unanimous confidence of TAAI members and looked forward to working with members and stakeholders to make the travel trade stronger, more united and future-ready.
He said Andhra Pradesh and Telangana offered significant opportunities in domestic and international tourism, with Hyderabad emerging as a major hub for business travel, MICE, leisure, medical tourism and international connectivity.
As Chairman, Raj is expected to focus on strengthening unity among travel agents, creating new business opportunities, professional development, industry advocacy and tourism promotion, besides improving engagement with governments, airlines and tourism organisations.
His election is being seen as a recognition of his long association with the travel and tourism industry and his leadership at both national and international levels.
