AP: RINL CELEBRATES NATIONAL SPORTS DAY WITH ENTHUSIASTIC PARTICIPATION
Visakhapatnam, Aug 30 (TNT): Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, celebrated National Sports Day 2026 with enthusiasm and sporting spirit at the Ukku Stadium and Hockey Field here on Saturday.
The celebrations, organised by the RINL Sports Department to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, saw the participation of around 200 schoolchildren, employees and their dependants.
A range of sporting activities was conducted to promote physical fitness, healthy living, teamwork and sportsmanship among employees and their families.
The events included 100-metre races, a 2-km walk for employees, athletics competitions for schoolchildren in different age groups, yoga and breathing exercises for dependants and senior citizens, a mixed hockey penalty shootout and relay races.
The events provided participants an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent while fostering a spirit of healthy competition.
The enthusiastic participation of children and family members added vibrancy to the celebrations.
The activities also highlighted the importance of making fitness an integral part of daily life and the role of sports in promoting discipline, confidence, teamwork and a positive outlook.
The sporting events were followed by a prize distribution ceremony for the winners.
The National Sports Day celebrations concluded on a spirited note, with participants displaying enthusiasm, sporting excellence and camaraderie.
