AP: New advanced healthcare facilities inaugurated at SSSIHMS, Puttaparthi
Puttaparthi (Andhra Pradesh0, Aug 27 (TNT): Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust Managing Trustee R J Rathnakar, on Thursday inaugurated several advanced healthcare facilities at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram (SSSIHMS-PG), Puttaparthi.
The facilities include an advanced Orthotic Centre, Dry Bone and Simulation Lab, Centre for Tissue Banking and Orthobiologics, besides a C-Arm machine and a mobile X-Ray system.
The facilities were inaugurated in the presence of SSSIHMS-PG Director Dr Gurumurthy, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning Vice-Chancellor Prof B. Raghavendra Prasad, Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital Director Dr K. Narasimhan, SSSIHMS-PG Joint Director Dr Anil Kumar Mulpur, SSSIHL Registrar Dr Srikanth Khanna and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics Dr Prakash Khanchandani, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Rathnakar said the new facilities would strengthen the hospital’s ability to provide advanced and comprehensive healthcare.
He described the Tissue Banking and Orthobiologics Centre as an important step towards providing specialised healthcare free of cost, while the Dry Bone and Simulation Lab, also known as the Bone School, would provide advanced hands-on training for orthopaedic professionals.
The Sri Sathya Sai Centre for Orthotics and Rehabilitation has been established to design and fabricate customised orthotic devices for paediatric and adult patients. Equipped with technology including a 3D scanner, the centre is expected to cater to around 100 patients every month and provide the devices free of cost.
The Sri Sathya Sai Dry Bone and Simulation Lab features four training stations, including an arthroscopy simulator, trauma stations and a microsurgery station. It will enable orthopaedic residents and fellows to receive hands-on training in a controlled environment.
The Sri Sathya Sai Centre for Tissue Banking and Orthobiologics will provide services including bone allografts, amniotic membrane applications and orthobiologic treatments such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), free of cost.
The centre will form part of the larger Sri Sathya Sai Bio-bank and Research Hub initiative.
The C-Arm machine will provide real-time imaging during surgical procedures, while the mobile X-Ray system will facilitate bedside radiography, particularly in intensive care units, emergency areas and wards.
Rathnakar said the new facilities reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s message of “Love All, Serve All” and his vision of providing compassionate healthcare.
