Six killed as private bus hits stationary truck in Telangana; PM Modi condoles

New Delhi, Aug 26 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed grief over the loss of lives in a mishap in Suryapet, Telangana, and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.

“Distressed to learn about the mishap in Suryapet, Telangana. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X.

Six passengers were killed and several others injured when a private travel bus travelling from Hyderabad to Eluru rammed into a stationary truck carrying metal poles on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway in Suryapet district on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred near Dorakunta in Kodad mandal.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed shock and grief over the deaths and conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims.

He directed Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical treatment.

Meanwhile, in a release, Fresh Bus management expressed sorrow over the incident involving one of its buses travelling from Hyderabad to Eluru and said its immediate priority was the safety, medical care and well-being of the affected passengers.

The company said its team was working on the ground in coordination with local authorities, emergency services and hospitals to provide medical assistance and support to the injured and their families.

It also said it had strengthened support channels to ensure passengers and their families receive timely assistance and verified information about the incident.
