Zoomcar, Uber Join Hands to Offer Self-drive, Chauffeur-driven Travel Options
Hyderabad, Aug 24 (TNT): Zoomcar and Uber have entered into a partnership to offer travellers self-drive and chauffeur-driven intercity travel options through the Zoomcar platform, the companies said on Monday.
Under the collaboration, users searching for self-drive vehicles on the Zoomcar app will also be able to discover and book Uber Intercity rides on select routes, enabling them to compare both options on a single platform.
The service has initially been launched in Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR and Mumbai and will be expanded to other cities in phases, the companies said.
The partnership covers one-way and round-trip journeys, providing travellers with the option of either driving themselves through Zoomcar or booking a chauffeur-driven Uber Intercity ride.
Zoomcar Holdings CEO Deepankar Tiwari said the partnership would allow users to choose between self-drive and chauffeur-driven travel based on their requirements without having to leave the Zoomcar platform.
Uber India and South Asia Director of Consumer and Growth Rishant Ghosh said demand for intercity travel was growing across metropolitan and Tier-2 markets, with road trips gaining popularity for weekend getaways, family visits and holidays.
The companies said the partnership reflected a wider shift towards access-based mobility, with consumers increasingly opting for flexible, on-demand transportation instead of vehicle ownership.
The collaboration combines Zoomcar’s self-drive offering with Uber Intercity, giving travellers greater choice and flexibility in selecting their preferred mode of transport for different journeys.
