CBI arrests Asst DGFT in Haryana bribery case

New Delhi, Aug 19 (TNT): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested an Assistant Director General of Foreign Trade (Asst DGFT) posted at the Office of Joint DGFT, Panipat, Haryana, in a bribery case.

The CBI registered a case against the accused on August 19, 2026, following allegations that the Assistant DGFT had demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant for clearing deficiencies and processing an Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) authorisation file, the agency said in a release here.

The agency laid a trap and caught the accused public servant while allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 30,000 from the complainant.

The accused will be produced before the designated CBI Court at Panchkula.

Searches are underway at the residential and office premises of the accused, the CBI said.

Investigation is continuing.
