IIIT Hyderabad opens applications for Cohort 3 of Agentic AI certificate programme
Hyderabad, Aug 18 (TNT): The Division of Flexible Learning (DFL) of IIIT Hyderabad has invited applications for the third cohort of its 12-week certificate programme, ‘Agentic AI: From Concepts to Practice’, aimed at enabling early-career professionals and experienced working professionals to design, build, deploy and operate production-ready agentic AI systems.
The executive education programme is designed to equip participants with skills to move from being AI users to AI engineers, the Institute said in a release here on Monday.
It requires around 12 hours of learning per week and combines live online interactive classes, recorded lectures, hands-on labs and practical projects, along with a planned campus immersion at IIIT Hyderabad towards the end of the programme.
The curriculum is structured across four modules covering the foundations, design, implementation, evaluation, deployment and operations of agentic AI systems.
Applicants are expected to have basic coding knowledge, preferably in Python, while one or more years of professional experience is preferred.
The programme fee is Rs 90,000 plus GST, with limited scholarships and discounts available. Participants who successfully complete the programme will receive a certificate from IIIT Hyderabad.
The programme is led by Prof Karthik Vaidhyanathan, Programme Director, Assistant Professor at IIIT Hyderabad’s Software Engineering Research Centre (SERC) and IEEE Software Associate Editor.
Prof Sandeep Shukla, Director of IIIT Hyderabad, said the programme reinforced the institute’s commitment to extending the quality of AI education offered on campus to learners outside the campus.
He said the Agentic AI certification programme was a flagship initiative of the Division of Flexible Learning and had already completed two successful cohorts.
The third cohort would be bigger and stronger, incorporating learnings from the first two cohorts, he added.
Prof C V Jawahar, Professor-in-Charge, DFL, IIIT Hyderabad, said building agentic systems was an engineering problem as much as an AI problem.
The programme brings the institute’s research expertise to working professionals who need to design and operate such systems in practice, rather than merely experiment with them, he said.
Prof Karthik Vaidhyanathan said agentic AI required a system-centric approach in which engineering was as important as the underlying models.
The programme combines academic research and practical experience to help participants build agentic AI systems that are reliable, scalable, sustainable and suitable for real-world deployment, he said.
Applications for Cohort 3 are currently open and will close on October 15, 2026. Orientation is scheduled from October 20 to 22, with the cohort expected to commence in late October.
Further details and applications are available through the IIIT Hyderabad Division of Flexible Learning website.
