Noida (UP), Feb 16 (TNT): AM Group, promoted by the founders of Greenko Group, one of India’s leading renewable energy conglomerates, on Monday said it has commenced the development of its ambitious 1 GW High Performance Compute Hub in Uttar Pradesh.
In a release here, the company said that it had earlier signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UP government at Davos, Switzerland on January 20, 2026, to establish the large-scale AI and high-performance computing facility.
AMG AI Labs, an affiliate of AM Group, has now received a Letter of Intent from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) for allocation of land parcels.
The first two phases of the project will comprise 150 MW and 200 MW respectively, forming part of the cumulative 1 GW AI and High-Performance Computing data center in the state.
The project aims to bring 350 MW of compute capacity online by 2028, with the full 1 GW operational by 2030. This translates into an estimated $25 billion investment and deployment of approximately 500,000 high-performance chips.
Once completed, the facility is expected to become the world’s first and largest fully vertically integrated AI platform, spanning owned carbon-free power generation, data center infrastructure, high-performance chips, a comprehensive software stack, AI applications, and flexible consumption models ranging from AI Pods as a Service to Tokens as a Service.
The project will leverage firm, on-demand carbon-free energy at rates significantly below global benchmarks. This will be enabled through renewable energy and strategic pumped storage assets managed via an in-house intelligent cloud energy architecture.
The project is expected to be among the largest investments in India to date, aligned with the Government of India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
It is projected to attract substantial foreign direct investment and generate thousands of high-skilled jobs, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a premier AI infrastructure destination.
AM Group Chairman Anil Chalamalasetty said “This is an enormously ambitious project. In green hydrogen and ammonia, we set out to deliver the lowest-cost molecules in the world, and we are doing it. We bring the same conviction to AI. Our goal is to deliver the lowest-cost, most efficient AI tokens on the planet, powered by clean energy we own and operate. By integrating the full value chain from power generation through silicon to token delivery, we can optimize across layers in ways that no single-segment player can.Uttar Pradesh and India deserve world-class AI infrastructure, and with the support of the State Government, we are building it.”
