MIM President Owaisi questions Centre over China Border, seeks clarity from Modi Govt

Hyderabad, Aug 17 (TNT): AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP, Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday questioned the Centre over the reported situation along the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh, alleging that the Narendra Modi government has maintained silence on developments in the area.

In a post on X, Owaisi sought clarification on whether the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had recently blocked Indian Army patrols from accessing an area where they had been patrolling earlier.

He also asked whether the PLA had destroyed a temporary structure erected by Indian Army personnel in an area claimed to be within Indian territory, and whether Chinese troops had pitched tents in the area previously accessed by Indian patrols.

Owaisi further questioned whether the government was asking the Army not to strongly press for patrolling rights in the area in view of the proposed visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Delhi next month.

He alleged that the government appeared keen to project normalcy in India-China relations and questioned whether the Centre had decided to keep the public unaware of developments along the border, drawing parallels with the Doklam standoff in 2017 and the Ladakh developments in 2020.

“Governments come and go, prime ministers come and go, but India’s territorial integrity and sovereignty cannot be allowed to be compromised,” Owaisi said, asserting that the country’s territorial integrity was “sacrosanct”.
