SCR records Rs 4,060 crore revenue in first four months of FY 2026-27
Hyderabad, Aug 15 (TNT): South Central Railway (SCR) recorded gross originating revenue of Rs 4,060.57 crore during the first four months of the current financial year, including Rs 2,640.80 crore from freight and Rs 1,236.88 crore from passenger services, the Zonal General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said in his Independence Day message here on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering after hoisting the National Falg on the occasion of 80th Independence Day celebrations here, he said following the operationalisation of South Coast Railway (SCoR)on June 1, 2026, SCR now comprises Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded divisions, covering 3,605 route km. Despite the reorganisation, the zone maintained operational efficiency.
Freight loading during the period stood at 30.593 million tonnes. Under Mission RAFTAR, open wagon speeds were upgraded to 100 kmph, he said.
Safety remained a priority, with track renewals completed over 135.22 km and 20 road under bridges completed, he said SCR also received the National S&T Award for Best Zonal Railway for its contribution to Kavach and Digital Interlocking.
The General Manager said the tripling of the Asifabad-Sirpur Kaghaznagar section had been completed, marking completion of the Kazipet-Balharshah Tripling Project.
Doubling of the Manyamkonda-Mahabubnagar section, the chord line between Lallaguda and Sitafalmandi A cabin and gauge conversion of the Amlakhurd-Tukaithad section were also completed, said Srivastava.
On passenger services, four pairs of new trains were introduced and 31 pairs of special trains were regularised as permanent services. The zone also operated 75 special trains and augmented services with 652 additional coaches, he said.
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, redevelopment works were progressing at identified stations, he said the redeveloped Hi-Tech City station was inaugurated in July, taking the number of Amrit stations inaugurated in the zone to four. A new halt station, Komuravelli Punyakshetram, was also inaugurated for pilgrims visiting the temple.
To improve passenger amenities, SCR constructed 10 foot-over bridges of 12-metre width and commissioned 10 lifts and two escalators, he said.
The zone increased its solar power capacity to 13.34 MWp as part of its environmental initiatives and under the Mission Zero Scrap programme, SCR generated revenue 30 per cent above the target fixed by the Railway Board, he said.
The General Manager appreciated the contribution of the SCR Women’s Welfare Organisation, Sports Association, Lalitha Kala Samithi, Civil Defence Organisation and Scouts & Guides, besides the cooperation of trade unions. The Laboratory Department of Central Hospital, Lallaguda, also secured NABL accreditation, strengthening diagnostic services and patient care.
He called upon the railway workforce to continue working with sincerity, dedication and teamwork to take South Central Railway to greater heights and contribute to the growth of Indian Railways and the nation.
