Spirit of Independence exhibition inaugurated at Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam, Aug 15 : Two-day exhibition-cum-cultural programme marking the centenary celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and the 80th Independence Day, began at the Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
The exhibition, being organised under the aegis of Sri Sathya Sai State Trust, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and under the guidance of the Sri Sathya Sai National Council for Schools, has been themed “Spirit of Independence – One Nation, One Spirit, One Heart”.
Visakhapatnam MP and GITAM Deemed to be University President M. Sribharat inaugurated the exhibition as the Guest of Honour.
He interacted with students of Classes VII to X and encouraged them to develop leadership qualities, confidence, responsibility and social commitment.
Sribharat appreciated the institution’s emphasis on value-based education and its efforts to nurture students with moral and human values. He also visited the exhibition and appreciated the creativity and efforts of the students.
More than 500 students participated in the exhibition, presenting over 170 exhibits covering themes including the Golden Era, Indian resistance, the awakening of nationalism, Swadeshi to Swaraj, unsung freedom heroes, the Declaration of Independence and the true meaning of independence.
The exhibits also explored intellectual and spiritual freedom, inner transformation through value-based education and the fulfilment of the true spirit of independence.
Tributes were paid to prominent freedom fighters as well as several unsung heroes of the freedom movement.
Around 300 students participated in cultural programmes featuring patriotic songs, dances and a street play highlighting physical, intellectual and spiritual independence.
Earlier, the 80th Independence Day was celebrated at the school with Sri Sathya Sai National Council for Schools Convenor Tribhuvan Sachdeva unfurling the National Flag.
Addressing the gathering, M.V.R. Sesha Sai said Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s blessings had guided and protected the institution throughout its journey.
Tribhuvan Sachdeva said students of Sri Sathya Sai educational institutions were fortunate to receive an education rooted in values and called upon them to uphold those principles in their lives.
Shanti House was declared the winner of the March Past competition for its discipline, teamwork and performance. Mementos were presented to the guests and special invitees.
