Aalambana Freedom Golf Cup raises Rs 50 lakh for children’s welfare
Hyderabad, Aug 15 (TNT): The Aalambana Freedom Golf Cup 2026, organised by ROSE Charitable Trust in association with Rotary Club of Hyderabad Mavericks, raised Rs 50 lakh in cash and donations for the education and welfare of children.
The fundraising tournament was held at the Hyderabad Golf Association, Golconda, on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day and witnessed participation from around 120 golfers.
The funds will be utilised to support Aalambana beneficiaries, including children across Telangana who lost their parents in road accidents and suicides, poor college students pursuing higher education and children from transient labour families studying at the ROSE Primary Learning Centre.
Former DGP J. Ramudu, who was the chief guest, presented trophies to the winners, runners-up and other prize winners at the conclusion of the tournament.
Before the prize distribution, cheques were handed over to two new Aalambana beneficiaries who had lost their fathers in road accidents and to three students towards their further education.
Hyderabad Golf Association Captain and Guest of Honour Jaswinder Birgi congratulated Team Aalambana for organising the event and assured continued support for the initiative.
Ramudu appreciated the efforts of Team Aalambana in helping children continue their education after losing their family breadwinners. Describing the initiative as a noble and timely cause, he called upon citizens to come forward and support children affected by road accidents and suicides.
Video messages from donors, including Dr Guruva Reddy, Justice Lavu Nageswara Rao and Pavuluri Subba Rao, were screened during the event.
They extended their support to Aalambana and assured continued assistance.
The organisers announced that the Aalambana Freedom Golf Cup would be conducted annually on August 15 as a signature fundraising event to support children in need.
The event received an enthusiastic response from golfers, philanthropists and citizens and marked the Independence Day celebrations with a social welfare initiative.
