Telangana Governor attends Librarians’ Day celebrations at Delhi University

New Delhi, Aug 12 (TNT): Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla attended the Librarians’ Day celebrations as the chief guest at the University of Delhi here on Wednesday.

The programme, organised by the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Delhi, in association with the Delhi Library Association, marked the birth anniversary of Dr S R Ranganathan, regarded as the Father of Library Science in India.

The event also featured the inaugural ceremony of the National Conference on “LIS Education in Alignment with NEP 2020” and the inauguration of a renovated lecture and seminar hall.

The Governor paid tributes to Dr Ranganathan and highlighted the importance of libraries in promoting knowledge, education, research and intellectual growth.

He stressed the need to embrace digital technologies while preserving the core values and traditions of libraries.
