Telangana Deputy CM visits QuantumScape, explores battery technology opportunities
San Jose, Aug 10 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday visited the headquarters of QuantumScape in San Jose and held discussions with company President and CEO Dr Siva Sivaram and senior executives on next-generation battery technology and potential opportunities in India.
Dr Sivaram briefed the Deputy Chief Minister on QuantumScape’s solid-state lithium-metal battery technology and the company’s efforts to develop batteries offering higher energy density, faster charging and improved safety compared with conventional technologies.
The discussions covered the global battery supply chain, including critical minerals, advanced materials and components, cell manufacturing and integration with electric vehicles.
The two sides also discussed India’s expanding electric mobility and advanced manufacturing ecosystem and explored possible areas of collaboration, including advanced materials and components, engineering and research and development, supply-chain partnerships and, in the longer term, localisation of next-generation battery technologies in India.
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted India’s capabilities in advanced manufacturing, engineering talent and clean technologies and invited QuantumScape to explore opportunities for greater engagement with the Indian ecosystem.
The visit was part of the Deputy Chief Minister’s broader engagements with leading US technology companies aimed at strengthening linkages between global innovation companies and India’s growing advanced manufacturing and clean-technology sectors.
