AP CM Expresses Grief Over Medico Priyanka’s Death, Orders Tough Action Against Accused

Amaravati, Aug 9 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday expressed deep anguish over the death of medico Priyanka, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a road accident in Rajamahendravaram on August 3, and directed officials to ensure stringent legal action against those responsible.

Priyanka, a medical student, sustained serious injuries after a car allegedly driven by a group of youngsters hit her in Rajamahendravaram.

She was initially treated at a hospital in the city and later shifted to Hyderabad by her family for advanced treatment.

She died while undergoing treatment, according to the government.

The Chief Minister reviewed the incident with district officials and spoke to the District Collector and Superintendent of Police to take stock of the case.

The SP informed Naidu that the accused persons had already been arrested and remanded to jail, the statement said.

Expressing concern over the loss of a young life, Naidu directed the authorities to ensure that the accused faced stringent legal action under the appropriate provisions of law.

He also ordered officials to provide Rs 20 lakh financial assistance to Priyanka’s bereaved family and directed them to extend all possible support to the family during the difficult period.

Expressing his condolences to the family, the Chief Minister said the death of the young medical student was an irreparable tragedy and stressed that those responsible must face the consequences of their actions.
