Telangana DGP Reviews Policing in Bhupalpally, Mulugu; Focus on Cybercrime, Ganja Control and Road Safety
Warangal, Aug 9 (TNT): Telangana Director General of Police C V Anand on Sunday said Telangana Police remained committed to maintaining law and order, safeguarding public safety and strengthening the force to respond effectively to emerging challenges through modern policing practices.
The DGP reviewed policing and crime prevention measures in Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu districts, with focus on cybercrime, narcotics control, road safety, women’s safety and strengthening police infrastructure.
The review was held as part of the DGP’s tour of the erstwhile Warangal region. Addressing the media after the meeting, Anand said the police were strengthening their response to emerging challenges while focusing on public safety and welfare of personnel.
He said cybercrime was increasingly spreading to rural and semi-urban areas, with even educated and financially aware people falling victim to sophisticated online frauds.
The DGP said several retired employees had lost their retirement savings after being lured into fake online investment schemes promising high returns. The police were intensifying awareness campaigns and strengthening investigations to identify and apprehend cyber fraudsters, he said.
Focus on Ganja Networks
Anand said Bhupalpally and Mulugu remained sensitive from the perspective of ganja transportation and illegal trade and directed district police to intensify surveillance against organised narcotics networks operating across State borders.
He said the issue was reviewed with the Superintendents of Police of both districts and necessary operational directions were issued to curb the movement and trade of narcotics.
Road Safety Measures
The DGP said illegal parking and other traffic violations continued to contribute to fatal road accidents and stressed the need for stronger enforcement and highway patrolling.
He said the State Government was working towards strengthening highway patrols and establishing a dedicated Traffic Management and Road Safety Bureau for scientific traffic enforcement and accident prevention.
As part of the ‘Arrive Alive’ road safety campaign, Anand distributed helmets to police personnel and appealed to police and the public to wear helmets during official duties as well as personal travel.
Action Against Food Adulteration
Expressing concern over food adulteration, Anand said the police would coordinate with other departments to intensify inspections against the manufacture and sale of adulterated food products.
Those found violating food safety norms would face stringent legal action, he said.
Police Infrastructure, Welfare
The DGP said the review had identified certain infrastructure deficiencies in Bhupalpally and Mulugu districts and efforts would be made to secure necessary budgetary allocations from the government to improve facilities and working conditions for police personnel.
He also said police were interacting with families affected by Left-Wing Extremist violence and facilitating eligible government assistance, including financial and welfare benefits.
Crime, Land Disputes Reviewed
Anand reviewed crime trends and the status of crime prevention and investigation with senior officers of the two districts.
On land disputes, he said police would act strictly according to law after verifying relevant documents and facts. No person would be allowed to disturb public order in the name of land disputes and violators would face legal action, he said.
Women’s Safety
The DGP said changing social conditions had contributed to an increase in family- and women-related issues and highlighted the role of Bharosa Centres in providing legal, psychological and social support to women in distress.
The police department would continue to strengthen mechanisms for ensuring women’s safety and protection, he said.
The review meeting was attended by IG Multi Zone-I Chandra Shekhar Reddy, DIG and Ramagundam Police Commissioner Ambar Kishor Jha, SP EAGLE Giridhar, SP CSB Sai Sree, Jayashankar Bhupalpally SP Sirisetti Sankeerth, Mulugu SP Sudhir Ramnath Kekan, ASP Batta and other senior police officers from the two districts.
