Varuna Yagam to Be Held at Nagarjuna Sagar on Monday; CM Revanth Reddy to Attend
Hyderabad, Aug 9 (TNT): A ‘Varuna Yagam’, seeking abundant rainfall and full reservoirs in the Krishna and Godavari river basins, will be conducted at Nagarjuna Sagar on Monday, with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy scheduled to participate in the concluding Purnahuti ceremony.
The ritual will be held at the premises of the Vijay Vihar Tourism Guest House, where 108 Ritwiks (priests) will perform the Yagam across 11 Homa Kundams.
Priests and Vedic scholars from the Yadagirigutta Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple will conduct the rituals.
According to the schedule, the Chief Minister will leave Hyderabad by helicopter at 2 pm and reach the BC Residential School at Nagarjuna Sagar Hill Colony at 2.45 pm.
He will then proceed to the Vijay Vihar Tourism Guest House to participate in the ritual.
Revanth Reddy will participate in the Purnahuti at 3 pm and is scheduled to depart for Hyderabad at 4 pm.
The Varuna Yagam is being organised with the objective of seeking favourable rains and adequate inflows to fill reservoirs in the Krishna and Godavari river basins.
