58 motorcycles seized during cordon and search operation in Kakinada

Kakinada, Aug 9 (TNT): Police seized 58 motorcycles lacking registration certificates, insurance and other valid documents during a cordon and search operation conducted in the Rangappa Cheruvu area under Gollaprolu police station limits in the early hours of Sunday.

The operation was conducted by Pithapuram Circle Inspector G Srinivas, along with sub-inspectors and police personnel of the circle, under the supervision of Additional SP Dr Mahanti Kishore Kumar and on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Bindu Madhav.

As part of the operation, police conducted thorough searches in the area to check for belt shops, illegal liquor sale centres, ganja and arrack, other narcotic substances and illegal activities. They also checked areas where persons with criminal backgrounds were suspected to be residing.

Police inspected vehicles during the operation and seized 58 motorcycles that did not have valid registration certificates, insurance or other required documents. The seized vehicles were shifted to the police station for further action.

Police said the operation was aimed at curbing anti-social activities, preventing the sale and transportation of ganja and other narcotic substances and identifying persons with criminal backgrounds.

Police advised the public to dial 1972 to provide information on ganja sales, 112 for emergency services and 1930 to report cybercrimes.

Gollaprolu Sub-Inspector B Ramakrishna, Uppada Kothapalli Sub-Inspector G Venkatesh, Pithapuram Additional Sub-Inspector D Lokesh and other police personnel participated in the operation.

The District Police Office said similar cordon and search operations would continue across the district as part of efforts to ensure public safety.
