UoH, Apollo University Renew MoU to Expand AI-Driven Healthcare Research
Hyderabad, Aug. 7 (TNT): The University of Hyderabad (UoH) and The Apollo University (TAU), Chittoor, have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for another three years, extending their strategic partnership till 2029 to strengthen collaboration in artificial intelligence-driven healthcare, interdisciplinary research and academic exchange.
The renewed agreement, signed on August 6, expands the scope of the partnership from life sciences to include the Schools of Medical Sciences and Management Studies at UoH.
The renewal ceremony was attended by UoH Vice-Chancellor (In-charge) Prof. J. Anuradha, Registrar Dr. Devesh Nigam, Director (R&D) Prof. Samrat Sabat, Dean of the School of Management Studies Prof. G.V.R.K. Acharyulu, and Dr. Ranjit Kumar Dehury. The Apollo University was represented by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nitin Ngarkar, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Alfred Augustine, Registrar Anil Kumar S., and Dr. K. Prabhakar, Head of Academic Affairs.
The renewed MoU builds on the collaboration between the two institutions during 2022-25, which focused on student research training, internships and cancer awareness initiatives through the School of Life Sciences.
Under the new framework, the School of Life Sciences will collaborate in biotechnology, bioinformatics, animal sciences, health technologies, translational biomedical research and postgraduate research mentoring, the University said in a release here on Friday.
The School of Medical Sciences will focus on public health, tribal health, psychology and optometry, with emphasis on public health analytics, AI-based eye care, tele-optometry and digital health.
The School of Management Studies will partner with TAU in hospital and healthcare management, digital health, healthcare supply chain management, executive education and consultancy for healthcare organisations.
A major focus of the renewed partnership will be the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Big Data in healthcare.
The institutions will jointly pursue research in AI-enabled diagnostics, predictive healthcare analytics, clinical decision-support systems, telemedicine, smart hospital management and biomedical data science.
The collaboration also envisages joint research projects, publications, international partnerships, certificate programmes, executive education, industry collaborations and hospital partnerships.
The two institutions said the partnership aligns with national initiatives such as Digital India, National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Skill India and Viksit Bharat @2047, and aims to develop a future-ready healthcare workforce by integrating academic research with clinical expertise.
