MoD Extends Deadline for Defence Correspondents Course Applications to August 10

Hyderabad, Aug. 7 (TNT): The Directorate of Public Relations (DPR), Ministry of Defence, has extended the last date for submission of applications for the Defence Correspondents Course (DCC)-2026 to August 10, giving eligible journalists additional time to apply for the prestigious three-week training programme.

The course, scheduled to be held from September 21 to October 11, 2026, aims to provide young journalists with first-hand exposure to the functioning of the Ministry of Defence and the three Armed Services — the Army, Navy and Air Force, a defence release said here on Friday.

According to the notification, applicants should be 35 years of age or below as on July 1, 2026, possess a diploma or degree in Mass Communication, Journalism or Public Relations, and have at least three years of editorial or reporting experience with a recognised newspaper, news agency, electronic or digital media organisation.

Candidates should also be regularly covering the defence beat as a primary or secondary assignment.

Applicants are required to submit an experience certificate, recommendation and relieving letter from the Editor-in-Chief, five published or broadcast works related to defence, and complete the prescribed application form along with the mandatory Google Form before the deadline.

The final selection will be made through a merit-based assessment process.

As part of the selection process, candidates must also submit a 300-word note on “Why I want to do DCC” and a 600-word write-up on either “Operation Sindoor and India’s zero tolerance policy against terrorism” or “Theatre Commands and their relevance in modern warfare and geopolitical challenges.”
