Jagruthi Prez Kavitha mounts sharp attack on Congress at Sevalal Jayanti

Hyderabad, Feb 15 (TNT): The 287th birth anniversary of Sant Sevalal Maharaj, celebrated at the office of Telangana Jagruthi in Banjara Hills here on Sunday, turned into a strong political platform as Kalvakuntla Kavitha launched a scathing attack on the ruling Congress government.

While paying floral tributes and participating in special rituals, Kavitha, the daughter of BRS Supremo and former Chief Minister KCR,  invoked Sevalal Maharaj’s ideals of self-respect and social justice to question what she termed the “systematic neglect” of Banjaras and Adivasis under the current regime.

Kavitha accused the Congress government of attempting to weaken opposition voices and indulging in political defections.

Referring to a recent municipal election, she alleged that even a single seat won by Telangana Jagruthi was being targeted by the ruling party.

“After winning so many seats, why is Chief Minister A.Revanth Reddy insecure about one opposition victory? Should there be no opposition or questioning voices in the state?” she asked.

Drawing parallels with past political practices, she said the Congress was now following the same methods it once criticized, warning that the public would “teach a lesson” to any party that tries to suppress democratic opposition.

Kavitha demanded immediate implementation of 10% reservations for Banjaras under GO 33 in education, employment, and promotions.

She challenged the government to release a white paper detailing how many beneficiaries have actually received the promised quota benefits in the last two years.

She also strongly objected to the reported allocation of only five GHMC seats to Banjaras, calling it politically unjust and based on outdated population data.

She termed it an attempt to dilute the community’s political representation in urban governance.

Further escalating her criticism, Kavitha demanded a cabinet berth for the Lambada/Banjara community, stating that their exclusion from the present

ministry was unprecedented and unacceptable.

Kavitha accused the Congress government of failing to: Distribute podu land titles , Protect assigned lands from acquisition ,Establish promised tribal corporations,Expand ITDAs in key districts and Deliver on financial assistance schemes for ST students.

She alleged that multiple assurances given to Scheduled Tribes during elections including educational financial aid and welfare benefits remain unfulfilled.

Positioning Sevalal Maharaj not just as a spiritual icon but as a reformer who fought colonial injustice, Kavitha said his message of dignity and empowerment should guide contemporary politics.

She asserted that Telangana Jagruthi would continue to fight for the rights, recognition, and political empowerment of Banjaras and Adivasis, turning the commemorative event into a clear signal of renewed political mobilisation against the Congress government.
