AP: MRPS Warns TDP Over Delay in MLC Nomination for Madiga Community
Kakinada, Aug. 5 (TNT): The Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) on Wednesday accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of failing to fulfil his pre-election promise of nominating a Madiga leader to the Legislative Council and warned that the organisation would launch an agitation if the assurance was not honoured.
Addressing a press conference after a meeting of Madiga leaders at Kacheripeta in Kakinada, MRPS former Polit Bureau member Mummidivarapu China Subbarao alleged that the Chief Minister had promised an MLC post to the Madiga community during the 2024 Assembly elections to strengthen its political representation.
He claimed that MRPS workers had campaigned for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) at the request of MRPS founder Manda Krishna Madiga, but alleged that the assurances given to the community had remained unfulfilled even after the government assumed office.
China Subbarao demanded that the Chief Minister immediately announce an MLC nomination for a Madiga representative, failing which the organisation would finalise its future course of action within four days.
He warned that the MRPS would demonstrate its strength in the forthcoming local body elections if the demand was ignored.
The meeting was chaired by MRPS district in-charge Pasupuleti China Babu Madiga and attended by leaders of the organisation and representatives of the Madiga community.
