SCCL Reviews Coal Transportation from Odisha’s Naini Mine, Targets 12k Tonnes Daily Movement
Hyderabad, Aug. 5 (TNT): Senior officials of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) on Wednesday reviewed coal transportation arrangements at the Naini Coal Mine in Odisha and directed officials to ensure daily movement of coal to railway sidings and consumers in line with production targets.
The review meeting was chaired by SCCL Director (Personnel & Finance) Gowtham Potru and Executive Director (Coal Movement) B. Venkanna.
Representatives of major coal consumers, including Jindal Steel, Jindal India Power Limited, Meenakshi Energy Limited and Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited (TNPGCL), besides transport agencies, attended the meeting, the state-owned Mining company said in a release here.
Addressing the meeting, Gowtham Potru said the Naini Coal Mine is expected to produce six million tonnes of coal annually, which will be supplied to nearby thermal power plants, the Singareni Thermal Power Plant in Telangana and thermal power stations in Tamil Nadu.
He directed transport agencies to ensure uninterrupted daily movement of coal as per the prescribed targets and sought the cooperation of consumer companies in lifting coal according to their allocations.
Venkanna instructed transport agencies to ensure smooth movement of coal to the Hindol and Kamakhya Nagar railway sidings for onward transportation by rail.
Representatives of consumer companies assured SCCL that they would lift coal as per their daily allocations and coordinate with transport agencies, while transport operators expressed readiness to meet the required transportation targets. The meeting also reviewed bottlenecks affecting coal transportation and discussed measures to resolve them.
Later, the SCCL officials met Angul District Collector M. Abdul Akhtar, IAS, and Superintendent of Police Rahul Jain, IPS, seeking the district administration’s support for uninterrupted road transportation of coal. Both officials assured full cooperation.
SCCL is making arrangements to transport a minimum of 12,000 tonnes of coal per day from the Naini Mine. Senior officials directed Naini Area officers to work in close coordination with transport agencies and coal consumers to achieve the daily transportation targets.
Earlier, Gowtham Potru and Venkanna inspected the Naini Coal Mine and reviewed coal production operations. The review was attended by Naini Area General Manager D. Baidya and other senior SCCL officials.
