China Firms to Showcase Latest Machinery at HIPLEX 2026 in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Aug. 5 (TNT): Around 40 Chinese companies will showcase advanced plastics processing machinery and manufacturing technologies at HIPLEX 2026, India’s third-largest plastics exhibition, to be held at HITEX, Hyderabad, from August 7 to 10.
The four-day exhibition will be inaugurated by Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu.
The event is being organised by the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Plastics Manufacturers Association (TAAPMA) with support from the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, the Telangana Government, CIPET, and several national plastics industry associations.
Addressing a curtain-raiser press conference on Wednesday, TAAPMA President Narendra Baldwa, HIPLEX Convener Meela Jayadev and AIPMA Senior Vice-President Anil Reddy Vennam said the exhibition would feature more than 500 exhibitors, including 40 from China, 160 from Gujarat, and 110 from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The Chinese exhibitors will display advanced machinery and manufacturing technologies through live demonstrations and product catalogues, enabling Indian manufacturers to gain access to the latest global technologies, they said.
The organisers said the expo would provide a major platform for manufacturers, startups and entrepreneurs, with a dedicated recycling pavilion showcasing innovations in plastic recycling and sustainable manufacturing.
Speaking on industry trends, Vennam said the Indian plastics industry has been registering 8-10 per cent annual growth over the past three years after recovering from the slowdown during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said India’s per capita plastic consumption stands at about 7 kg, compared with 24 kg in China, indicating substantial growth potential for the domestic market.
He attributed the industry’s growth to the increasing use of recycled plastics following the implementation of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework by the Government of India. Recycling in Telangana has increased to 8-9 per cent, up from 3-4 per cent earlier, contributing to higher raw material availability and pushing industry growth beyond 12 per cent, he said.
Vennam said demand for plastics is expanding across sectors including space, aviation, automobiles, healthcare, education and consumer products, with technology-driven applications creating new opportunities for the industry.
Expressing confidence in the sector’s long-term prospects, he said the Indian plastics industry is expected to double in size by 2047, driven by technological innovation, increased recycling and expanding industrial applications.
He also said raw material prices had witnessed a sharp increase in March but stabilised following timely intervention by the Government of India.
